Providing Services
“As long as it is within my capabilities, you can have anything you want.” Cheng Yan’s eyes gleamed with warmth as he gazed at the woman in front of him.
Yao Tang, however, couldn’t help but think of all the prices she had just seen. “The dishes are so expensive though,” she murmured, looking around. “Let’s see if it’s worth the price.”
Even with the Yao Family then, they had only spent a few thousand yuan whenever they went out to eat. Here, a good dish cost around ten thousand. If someone were to treat his guests here, it would likely cost him a hundred thousand yuan.
Just as Cheng Yan was about to speak, a waiter quickly went up to them and placed the dishes on the table. “Would you like me to serve you?”
“Served?” Yao Tang furrowed her eyebrows. “What service?”
Only then did the older man realize that she had misunderstood. The corners of his lips twitched.
The waiter was quick to rectify the situation. “Please don’t misunderstand,” she hastily provided. “I meant—would you want me to slice the duck for you? Also, would you want me to get you some tea? It’s free of charge.” “Oh.” The young woman coughed lightly. Her cheeks were flushed. “There’s no need.”
“If you need anything, please feel free to call me. Just press this button.” The waiter motioned to the small button at the end of the table before leaving.
As Yao Tang watched the waiter leave, she slowly turned back to Cheng Yan. “You chose the right place,” she said again.
His smile deepened.
However, before they could speak, the door on the other side of the restaurant slid open—the one facing the cherry blossom tree.
A young woman’s voice echoed from the outside. It didn’t take long for her to realize who the voice had belonged to. She glanced to the side and stood up, only to see that Yang Ming and Yao Ran had new visitors.
Meng Ling and Madam Meng had entered the scene. And both were not happy about what they had seen. “You really are shameless,” Meng Ling spat. “Yang Ming is set to marry me, yet you come all this way to eat with him? Do you really think you even deserve to eat here? What right do you have to be here?”
Yao Ran bowed her head, sniffling. “I may not be the daughter of the Yao Family before, but Yang Ming is like a brother to me. Why can’t we go to dinner as friends?” She slowly looked up, showcasing her glistening eyes. “I know you are to wed my brother, but you are not married yet. We had only come out to eat, nothing more.”
“Nothing more?” Meng Ling sneered. “Who do you think you are to meddle in our business? So what if I’m not married to him yet. Even if he doesn’t marry me in the end, he surely wouldn’t marry someone of your status.”
She honestly didn’t want to come out all the way here to cause a scene, but this was too much! Yao Ran had posted a picture of a restaurant where she was with Yang Ming, and all of her friends commented how she had been able to make an appointment. Meng Ling hadn’t even gone here yet, and he had already taken this woman!
While she may not love him, the least they both could do was give each other some face!
Back then, Meng Ling refused to stand up for herself because of her hand’s condition. She felt a little inferior as compared to all the other women. However, now that she was more confident, why didn’t Yang Ming bring her along?
Yao Ran was about to continue when she saw Yao Tang watching from the doorway. For a moment, she fell silent. She had initially wanted to win Yang Ming’s pity by acting in front of Meng Ling, but she couldn’t bring herself to.
Was this how low she had gotten?
She couldn’t do that in front of her.
“Sister!” Yao Ran called out. “You’re here.”
Hearing Yao Ran call out, Meng Ling immediately turned to see Yao Tang. A bright smile slipped into her lips as she skipped toward Yao Tang. However, just as she was about to greet her as her “doctor”, she was halted by her stern gaze.
“Sister Yao Tang!” she immediately changed her tone. “Why are you here? Are you here to eat?”
