Chapter 220

The campus of University of Science and Technology Jing City was bustling with people. Among the youthful faces, a male student wearing black sweatpants stood out in particular.

Qi Shaobai was calm and composed. Carrying a suitcase in each hand, he walked at an unhurried pace, completing the task assigned by the teacher in charge of new student registration to lead the way. He pretended not to notice the infatuated looks from the girls beside him.

In fact, he had only been here one day, but thanks to his map reading skills perhaps honed by playing computer games, he had already figured out the basic campus layout of University of Science and Technology Jing City.

After a while, they arrived at the female dormitory building.

The wheels of the suitcase stopped rolling.

"We're here. This is the place," Qi Shaobai said in a flat tone.

"Thank you, senior!"

Senior?

Qi Shaobai's expression remained unchanged, but he repeated the term to himself in his mind.

Clearly, the new female student had misunderstood him.

But he was too lazy to correct her misconception and simply said lightly, "You're welcome."

Just as the girl was about to open her mouth to ask more questions with a hesitant yet eager look, he decisively turned and left, showing only his cold back.

The girl reacted swiftly to snap a photo of his side profile before Qi Shaobai turned the corner.

When she arrived at Dorm Room 205, she hadn't even introduced herself to the other three girls who had already settled in the room. Her first words were a string of exclamations.

"Wow, wow, wow! Sisters, the senior who led me here was so handsome, so handsome, so handsome! Extremely good-looking!"

As she finished speaking, the three other girls in the dorm involuntarily looked her way.

The girl occupying the bed next to the balcony smiled and blinked. "Hello, sisters. I'm Chi Xia."

Since school hadn't officially started, the dorm supervisor didn't enforce lights out at the regular time.

The clock struck midnight, but the lights in Room 205 were still on.

Bursts of delightful laughter could be heard from time to time.

Lying in her single room, the dorm supervisor couldn't help marveling that this year's freshmen were quite talkative. On just the first day, they all seemed to have hit it off.

This was not a common occurrence in previous years.

The remarkably amicable relationship forged among the four girls in Room 205 could be entirely attributed to the two social butterflies among them. One was Chi Xia, the other was Jian Miao, who had addressed everyone intimately as "sisters" the moment she entered the room today.

At Chi Xia's suggestion, the four went off campus for dinner together that night.

Over the meal, they chatted freely, still reluctant to part ways when the clock struck midnight. Following the tradition, they ranked themselves as Big Sis, Second Sis, Third Sis and Baby Sis according to their ages.

As a Jing City native, Chi Xia naturally became the others' oracle, ceaselessly answering all kinds of questions, such as: Which shopping area in Jing City is better? How cold can the winter get? There won't be cockroaches that can fly here, right?!

As their discussion was winding down, Second Sis Jian Miao blissfully heaved a long sigh. "I'm so lucky today. Not only did I get to know you lovely girls, I also met a handsome senior who led the way. I can foresee what an enjoyable university life lies ahead!"

Upon hearing this, Baby Sis instantly took interest. She tore open a bag of potato chips to prepare for the gossip. "Exactly how handsome? Which department does he belong to? Does he have a girlfriend?" She had wanted to ask these questions the moment she heard Jian Miao burst through the door saying those words this morning. But back then, they weren't yet familiar with one another so she didn't feel comfortable asking outright.

Jian Miao shook her head regretfully. "I don't know. That handsome guy was so cold. His face was stinky. If I hadn't heard him speak at last, I might have really suspected that he was a mute. You know me, I read too many novels. When seeing such a good-looking guy, I can't help feeling that he should have some congenital flaw as a misfortune-prone character. Otherwise it wouldn't seem realistic for someone so handsome to have no defects at all."

Her words induced an outburst of laughter in the dorm room.

After a moment, Baby Sis eased up and said, "Miao Miao, no pic no truth! I suspect you're exaggerating."

"Who said there's no pic?" Jian Miao immediately took out her phone and waved it mysteriously. "I secretly snapped a shot of him."

"Quick, show us!"

When Jian Miao opened her photo album, three faces leaned in side by side.

In the picture, the "senior" had his hands tucked into his pockets, walking in a lazy posture, with his chin tilted up a bit.

His simple outfit could not conceal the edge that radiated from within.

His face did look stinky, with a straight line for the lips.

For some reason, he gave off a vibe of looking at the whole world with slight disdain.

He had good height and a straight nose. His side profile was smooth and his brows and eyes were profound yet permeated with a fleeting flamboyance that was hard to capture.

It was as if the light of the entire world should shine on him, but he still found it too troublesome, using his stinky face to say "don't look at me", giving off that kind of feeling.

Chi Xia suddenly frowned, muttering to herself, "Senior?"

Wasn't this the boy from Jing City No.1 Middle School?

"Yeah," Jian Miao nodded. "Handsome, right?"

"So handsome!" Baby Sis nodded vigorously. "Not ordinarily handsome, but brimming with charm. And so fair too! I'm so envious of that snow white skin!"

Big Sis was relatively more composed, but even she couldn't help exclaiming now, "Pretty awesome."

"Big sisters can admire him, and so can little sisters!" Baby Sis joked, mimicking lines from TV dramas.

Another round of giggles.

After the laughter died down, everyone realized Chi Xia hadn't said anything.

"Xia Xia? Why are you zoning out? Stunned speechless by White Senior's handsomeness?" Jian Miao asked.

Chi Xia was puzzled. "His surname is Bai (White)?"

Jian Miao laughed. "I made that up randomly. He's so fair, let's call him White Senior. Fits perfectly, no?" Big Sis said, "You do have a knack for nicknames."

Baby Sis echoed, "Very apt."

Chi Xia thought to herself that if she hadn't recognized wrongly, he should be in the same grade as her.

Moreover, his surname should be Qi or Zhi. Called Zhi Shao or Qi Shao or something similar.

How did he...become a senior?

Where exactly did the misunderstanding occur?

Harboring doubts in her heart, she didn't voice them out.

After all, it could be someone who simply resembled him in the side profile picture.

The other girls didn't dwell too much on Chi Xia's abnormal reaction. They started a new night chat about "White Senior", analyzing the secretly taken picture.

"Sweet dreams fodder for tonight, got it."

"But truth be told, White Senior looks too cold. Not my cup of tea. I feel I'd suffer emotional abuse from him."

"Ahahaha..."

"Isn't taming a bristly lone wolf cub quite a rewarding challenge?!"

"Miao Miao, your colloquial descriptors are just so..."

"Hahaha, I'll tone it down a bit."

On the other side...

Qi Shaobai was completely oblivious that he had become the night chat topic in the female dorm.

As soon as he returned to his dorm room, two roommates eagerly crowded around him.

"You just sent new students to East 7 Building right?"

Faced with his roommates' eager questioning, Qi Shaobai was puzzled. He leaned his neck back and echoed flatly, "Yeah."

"I heard there's a campus belle in East 7. Did you see her when you went over?"

"No." Qi Shaobai's reply was succinct.

Roommate A scratched his head. "That can't be right. I heard our grade's school flower is staying in the dorm building of East 7. How could you not have seen her?"

The male and female freshmen who had just entered university were all pent up with youthful vigor. Checking out the opposite gender was the first thing on their minds upon arriving on campus.

Qi Shaobai walked to his desk, pulled back the chair, and laughed. "It's not like she could be standing at the entrance like some mascot, right?"

His roommate patted his own head, realizing he was being a bit foolish. "You're right. We can take a better look during military training."

Qi Shaobai didn't respond.

He had no interest in this topic.

Compared to gossip, he was more concerned with the military training that would start three days later - questions like, how long is the break time during military training and how to cleverly avoid being pulled out by the officers to sing songs.
