After protests from all of the men present and an unrelenting Yang Ruqin, both ladies stepped foot into the Black Room.
Zhao Lifei wondered which medieval castle this room was inspired from. The walls were made of grey stone, obviously soundproof with very dim lighting. There were all sorts of devices, weapons, and other things present. She could see that it was recently cleaned, but nothing could get rid of the blood stains on the walls and floors. She wondered how much the janitors get paid here. Cleaning up the mess in this room must’ve been a difficult task to do.
Zhao Lifei was worried about Yang Ruqin who had never punched anyone in her life. She was being coached by Guo Sheng on how to do a proper beatdown.
"You can’t put your thumb inside the fist, you will break it." Guo Sheng grabbed her thumb and placed it outside her fist. He then excitedly led her towards his "toy box" filled with various tools and weapons.
"This one is perfect for breaking his bones, oh and this one can make your punches hurt a lot more. But you’ll dirty your hands if you directly use this one, hm, the arabian dagger is too bloody for you. What do you think about the baseball bat?" Guo Sheng fumbled through the box, taking out things and then tossing it to the side.
Yang Ruqin patiently listened to his rambling and bent down to search the box together.
Zhao Lifei walked around the room and noticed a button. She pressed it resulting in chains falling from the air. She pressed another button and this time there were leather restraints.
Yang Ruqin turned around at the commotion and her perverted mind thought straight to BDSM. Her eyes met Zhao Lifei’s curious ones and she winked.
Zhao Lifei was confused at what Yang Ruqin was pointing at and before her brain could become corrupt, Yang Feng stood in her line of sight. "Don’t press random buttons. There is one that will activate a pit."
"Where does the pit lead to?"
Yang Feng pinched her cheek. "Don’t worry about it." He attempted to guide her out of the room by placing a hand on her lower back while leading her towards the door.
Zhao Lifei dug her feet into the ground and said, "You’re not taking me anywhere." She walked in the opposite side of the room and sat down on a chair, not knowing it was specifically reserved for Yang Feng.
Guo Sheng was the only one who said anything. "Uhm, lady boss, only Big Boss—"
"Let her be." Yang Feng trained his eyes on her. She crossed her slender legs, one over the other and leaned her head on the chair.
Mu Ting was brought into the room, quivering and trembling in the hands of the men who shoved him onto the floor. Loud shouts could be heard outside and it did not take long for more people to tumble into the room, tripping over their feet.
Yang Ruqin’s pupils dilated when she saw the other men that took their sweet time beating her in her own apartment. They had stolen her credit card that night to buy an excessive amount of alcohol and cigarettes.
Zhao Lifei examined her nails and wondered if she would break one in the process. She shrugged it off and stood up, deciding today would be a good way to train her skills. It had been a while since she had a good workout with sparring partners.
Yang Feng noticed she was still in heels and a skirt. He flicked his hand and a woman clothed in a black suit and dress pants stepped forward.
"Sir, you called?"
"Get your lady-boss a training outfit."
The woman bowed her head and left to fetch the clothes. In less than five minutes, she returned with a set of neatly folded clothing with a pair of clean, new sneakers resting on the top of it. He took it and walked towards Zhao Lifei. "Wear this. It’ll be more comfortable."
Zhao Lifei swept the room and asked, "Where am I going to change?"
Yang Feng was brightened by the sudden opportunity to be alone with her. Perhaps he could distract her long enough for Yang Ruqin to pummel these men to the ground so that she didn’t have to break a nail.
"I’ll take you somewhere." Yang Feng happily guided her upstairs where they breezed through a long and quiet hallway lined by guards. He took her into a room, switched on the lights, and then quietly locked the door behind him.
Zhao Lifei was amazed to see it was a large bedroom furnished with everything required to make a man comfortable. There was a king sized bed pushed to the wall on the left, a large window, coffee table and couch to the right, as well as a TV. There were two doors, one on the left, and one on the right.
"Where’s the bathroom?" Zhao Lifei queried as she took the clothes from his hand. She yelped when he suddenly settled his hand on her hips and bent his head to press a kiss to her forehead. Her eyes fluttered when he kissed her lids, then her cheek, trailing to the corner of her mouth before scooping her up into his arms and carrying her towards the bed.
He hovered over her, supporting his weight on his arms. His hand cautiously caressed her face, a tiny smile settled on his lips. He leaned in for a kiss, but she placed a hand on his mouth.
"I don’t want to kiss you."
Yang Feng was a bit offended by her words, a flash of dignation passing through his eyes. "Why not?" He gruffly asked her, kissing her fingers along the way. If she was not going to let him touch her lips, he would kiss everywhere until she could not stop herself from begging him.
"You had a cigarette this afternoon. I hate smokers." She yanked her hand back before he could press his lips onto it again.
"I’ll brush my teeth."
"I don’t care." Without warning, Zhao Lifei flipped their position. Yang Feng’s back came in contact with the bed, his face passive, but his eyes widened the slightest bit.
"You don’t trust me." She added on, hovering over him the same way he did.
Yang Feng came back to his consciousness and wrapped an arm around her waist. His entire body went rigid when she suddenly plopped herself onto him, her breast pressed against his chest that always felt like a wall instead of flesh.
"It was just a small brunch and you got angry at me for it." Zhao Lifei sat up when he tried to hug her. She placed the clothes to her side and could hear shuffling before he got up as well.
"You jumped straight to conclusions and thought I cheated on you." She pointed out, raising her head to look at him. Her face was blank, but Yang Feng could tell she was hurt by his actions.
"I get jealous easily." Yang Feng was seated beside her, his legs spread a bit so that it touched hers. She moved her leg away, not wanting to touch him.
"That shouldn’t be an excuse." She crossed her arms and tilted her face away from him. She looked anywhere but him.
Yang Feng did not like that. He grabbed her small chin, forcing her to properly face him. She kept her eyes trained on his shoulders.
"Your non-existent trust in me hurts."
"You didn’t trust me with Su Meixiu." Yang Feng’s blunt words caused her to instantly glare at him.
"That’s because I knew she had feelings for you!" Zhao Lifei threw her hands up, not believing he was going to bring her up during this fight. Her eyes flashed with enmity and hostility, turning the gentle amber into a raging copper.
Yang Feng’s eyes narrowed when he glared at her, "I can say the same thing for that pesky friend of yours."
Zhao Lifei scoffed, "Wei Hantao does not have feelings for me."
Yang Feng gritted his teeth, his jaw clenching and unclenching. "I know you’re incredibly dense, but at the least, you should be able to recognize when a man is in love with you!"
Zhao Lifei’s fingers itched to slap him at his insult. "Oh? I’m dense? What does that say about you?!" She stood up and decided to not entertain this aggravating banter any longer.
Yang Feng brutally grabbed her upperarms, his nails digging into her sensitive skin. "You know, my love, I have been patient when it comes to him because he’s actually useful to you."
Zhao Lifei struggled in his arms, wriggling and pushing at his chest. "Let go of me!"
"How blind are you to not be able to see the way he looks at you? Like some lovesick puppy wagging his tail—"
She raised her hand, in the seeming action she was going to slap him for his insulting words, but in the last moment of hesitation, she clamped it over his mouth. "I’ve had enough of you for today."
Something in Yang Feng changed. Where the love and tenderness for her once stood was overtaken with a state of emptiness, replaced with raw anger.
