Zhao Lifei curled her fingers around the platinum door handle, the cold metal matched the temperature of her body. She pulled the handle and opened the door. She did not need to look behind her to know everyone was baffled by what she had just done.
She walked into the room and shut the door behind her before tossing the extremely heavy purse onto the couch. She walked around the office in curious wonder, exploring the enormous space that was the size of an apartment. Tucked beside a bookshelf and hidden from plain sight was a door.
She tilted her head and tested the knob, it was unlocked. She wondered if there were skeletons hidden in there and to her mundane disappointment, there were none. She saw it was a standard-sized bedroom and when she walked in, she saw the bathroom that had a large shower, sink, and toilet.
As expected of a workaholic.
He even had a bed and bathroom here just so he could stay at the office!
She shook her head at this and concluded that he needed to take a short vacation from work. She wondered if he even understood the definition of a vacation.
She walked out of the bedroom, completely unaware that the purpose of the room was soon going to change.
Zhao Lifei sat down on his large leather chair that was twice her size. She swung her legs and swiveled the chair so that she could look out the glass wall. She hoped that he was smart enough to use one-way glass; such that he could gaze outside, but the people could never see the inside.

"Meeting adjourned."
The senior directors, who were old enough to be Yang Feng’s grandfather, all stood up to pay their respects to him. They bowed their heads when he walked past them.
Waiting outside the room was Chen Gaonan. Yang Feng wordlessly walked past him and right away, Chen Gaonan followed behind.
"There is another meeting scheduled before lunch with CEO Zheng, then after that, President Ling is requesting a private talk with you. These are all the meetings for today. Awaiting on your desk are the files you’ve requested..." Chen Gaonan inwardly cursed. He forgot about those until he saw them on his tablet. What if that woman was in there reading them right now? It was confidential information from the finance department!
When his boss briefly shot him a glare, Chen Gaonan visibly gulped and with a shaky voice, he read on, "I-in regards to upcoming events, Madam Yang’s birthday is approaching in five weeks time, but we can begin the gift-selecting process now. And as requested, tomorrow you will have a meeting with Director Zhao Junkai."
Yang Feng blankly listened to Chen Gaonan’s ramble, but his mind was elsewhere. He planned on telling Zhao Lifei about what he said this morning to his grandfather. He needed to inform her of the lies he uttered in order to protect her.
When he reached the area right outside his office, he felt something was off. His normally rigid expression changed a bit.
Chen Gaonan swallowed hard. He was forced to choose from revealing the truth or staying by Yang Ruqin and Zhao Lifei’s words.
Yang Feng ignored his secretary’s sickly complexion and walked into his office, closing the door behind him. As he approached the desk, his chair turned around, but his hand was faster. He had already grabbed the gun that was tucked in his suit.
Zhao Lifei let out a soft laughter at the chilling and murderous expression on his face. Any man that saw him would have collapsed and begged for mercy.
"What a proper greeting." She scoffed, standing up and watching as his eyes followed her every movement.
Yang Feng’s expression changed instantly. The glacier in his eyes melted into spring, his face was filled with tender fondness towards her. He holstered the gun and walked towards her so fast that she was caught off-guard by his inhumane speed. She stiffened when he embraced her, his usually comforting arms felt like a cage.
"You should’ve told me you were here. I would’ve ended the meeting a lot earlier." Yang Feng buried his head into her neck, breathing in her heavenly scent. He hugged her tighter, enjoying the feeling of her in his arms.
"I didn’t do it for that exact reason." She replied, while her arms hung by her sides.
Yang Feng felt the difference in her behavior and voice. He pulled back to examine her. "What’s wrong?"
"I don’t know," She shrugged. "Why don’t you tell me?"
His brows drew together at her words. Did something happen?
"I can’t read your mind." He deadpanned, his arms loosening around her.
"No, really?" She mockingly gasped, "I thought you could!"
Yang Feng scowled at her tone. She was practically begging to start a fight. "What is wrong with you?"
"I could ask you the same thing!" She pushed him away, but his arms stayed firm. He was not going to let her leave. "Is there something you want to tell me?" She hissed, jabbing his chest and hurting her fingers in the process. Poking him was like poking a wall.
"Something along the lines of, ’We should break up’?"
At her words, his face darkened and a rough growl left his mouth. "You’re not leaving me." He picked her up, one arm under her butt while the other rested on her lower back.
She was forced to hold onto him as she was afraid she might fall. "Let me go! What are you doing?!" She smacked him, struggling to separate them, but he was a lot stronger. Just his one arm alone was enough to prevent her from going anyway.
"Yang Feng, I’m serious!" She screamed, her eyes widening when she realized he was taking her into the bedroom. She yelped when he tossed her onto the bed and climbed on top of her, caging her in with his arms.
Yang Feng was glad his office was soundproof, or else his people would’ve heard the commotion, not that he cared, but he knew she would.
"We’re not breaking up." He growled, grabbing her chin to force her to look at him. His grip was tight, his fingers pressing into her jaw.
"You’re hurting me."
And just like that, his grip loosened, his eyes softening the slightest. In an angry voice, but gentler tone, he grumbled, "Let me see."
She slapped his hand away, glaring at him.
At this, his eyes became frosty again, and just like that, the anger came back. This time, he grabbed her harsher than before, causing her to raise her leg in an attempt to kick him where it would hurt. His legs pinned her down and when she tried to smack him, he grabbed both of her wrists and pressed them onto the bed.
"Stop struggling." He commanded, pinning her harder into the bed. She continued to go against his words, wriggling and moving around.
"Lifei." He snarled, but she would not listen.
"Stop it!" She screamed at him, she was overcome with frustration. "Stop playing with me! Let me go!" Her face was becoming flushed with anger, something he did not like. He’d rather her turn pink from his kisses.
"Never." His reply was calm, like the small ripples of the waves before the hurricane hit. He released his grip on her, catching her by surprise, only for him to hug her tightly. "I’m never letting you go." He firmly declared, the words ringing in her ears.
She could feel herself crumble as her heart began to lose faith. He was the most greedy man she had ever met. Even though he did not love her, he was still unwilling to release her from the birdcage.
