The day eventually came to an end for Zhao Lifei who left Feili once the sun began to set. She felt slightly dizzy from not having consumed anything the entire day except for a cup of tea.

She tiredly rubbed her eyes as she walked to her car in the underground parking lot. She unlocked the door, opened it and blinked. It was locked again. Huh, didn’t that mean she didn’t unlock it the first time? She tilted her head and could’ve sworn she did.

Shrugging it off, she pressed the button again and unlocked the car door. Without looking, she climbed into the car, a scream leaving her lips when she saw a man sitting in the passenger seat.

She would’ve stabbed the man in the eye with her car keys if it wasn’t for his quick reflexes. His rough, but warm arms easily grabbed her wrists, holding them still. "Relax there, little kitty."

Yang Feng was amused and glad that her first instinct was to go for the eyes of the "attacker," for that was usually their most vulnerable area, though he did not enjoy being surprised like this.

"Such a violent little thing." He chuckled, releasing her wrists when she tugged at them.

Zhao Lifei did not say anything when she placed a hand on her frightened heart. She did not know what to say or feel upon seeing him.

"What? Cat got your tongue?" He reached over to pinch her nose but she backed away from him, pressing her body to the car door. His expression soured at her reaction. She did not look happy to see him.

"What are you doing here?"

The question was like a jab at him, a smack even. He rushed every meeting of the day and did all of his paperwork, even skipping lunch, just so he could end this early, but she did not seem a bit grateful for his gesture.

"What do you mean?"

Zhao Lifei checked the time and showed it to him. "I thought you would be staying overnight at your office again. You know, just to break another promise."

Yang Feng stared at her for the longest time, his expression softening when he saw how guarded she looked, her eyes accusing him. He gently reached over to caress her cheek in an attempt to bring her closer, but she swatted at his hand.

"I stayed over the other night because your company gave the notice for today’s meeting very late."

"Don’t push the blame onto me."

"Well, don’t send out the acceptance so late." He did not bring up the fact that other companies would have to wait weeks in advance just to get a meeting with Yang Enterprise. Accepting the invitation to see Feili today was practically a miracle in itself.

Zhao Lifei did not respond. She turned her face away from him and placed on the seatbelt to start the car and just then, she saw the message that the gas was running extremely low. She scowled, remembering the previous night where she drove an entire circle and a half around the large city just to lose her grandfather or Yang Feng’s men tracking her. However, this alone should not be able to drain her gas that much, unless—

"Did you drain the gas tank of my car?!" She hissed, turning around. She figured it was practically impossible to hijack her car and come inside, but who would’ve thought, this devious man would deplete the gas tank!

Yang Feng shrugged, "Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t."

"You— ugh!" She unbuckled her seatbelt, opening the car door, slamming it closed and making moves to storm upstairs, but before she could move two steps forward, arms came out from behind her, wrapping themselves around her body.

"Let go of me." She struggled against his iron grip. He responded by embracing her tighter, leaning his head on the crown of hers.

"You’re mad at me." He pointed out, one arm around her waist, the other on her collarbone. He deliberately made sure she could not drive her car just so she couldn’t run away from him.

"Really, Sherlock Holmes? I couldn’t tell!" She scoffed, rolling her eyes.

"Is it the late night meeting? I won’t do it again, okay?" He made moves to kiss her cheek, but she responded by turning it the other way and when he tried to kiss the other side, she dodged it again.

"You broke your promise one day after you made it and you even had the audacity to be with—" She stopped rambling midway after she realized how clingy she sounded. She was reverting back to her old ways again, to the same woman she was two years ago.

"With who? Su Meixiu?" His suspicions were confirmed when she responded by roughly jamming her heels on his feet. Too bad for her, the leather shoes he was wearing were made with the strongest and best quality leather, ensuring nothing could easily dent it.

"If you don’t let go of me, I’ll scream bloody murder." She babbled, hating the way her heart pricked when the hateful name was brought up.

She was beginning to feel annoyed at his behavior. He knew everything. He knew her fear of being cheated on, he knew of her traumatic past, and he knew she had a dislike towards female secretaries, especially one that was by the side of their boss 24/7!

"Scream all you want, but let’s do it in bed."

"You—"

"She’s not my private assistant anymore."

Zhao Lifei froze. What did he say?

Yang Feng saw her sudden obedience and smiled. He turned her around, one arm still snaked around her, while the other reached to cup her cheek, his thumb drawing small circles on her skin.

"Why?"

"You didn’t like her." He easily responded, relaxing a bit when the depressed look in her eyes faded. The pleasant light in her eyes returned, turning the dark brown to the shade of milk chocolate.

"Your family won’t react well to that." She muttered, more to herself than him.

"They’ll have to get used to it." He cheekily responded, bending down for a kiss, his heart leaping in joy when she did not push him away, but turned her cheek so that the kiss landed on the corner of her lips.

"Lifei." He frowned, grabbing her chin for a proper kiss, but she shook her head.

"I’m still mad at you."

"Why?"

"You always treat her so well, pardoning her for every single mistake and—"

"Her demotion was the punishment for today’s behavior." Yang Feng wanted to say the only reason he allowed Su Meixiu’s mistakes to slide was because her diligence and clumsiness of hers really reminded him of a younger Zhao Lifei.

There were so many times the tiny child hurt herself in the past chasing after him, yet she was still tenacious enough to continue doing so, or there were times where she constantly knocked things over or even tripped over air.

"From now on, there will be no more second chances."

Zhao Lifei examined his face, searching for the slightest hesitation that would prove his words to be a lie, but there was none and to her relief, the fear of him cheating was beginning to disperse.
